Robin DaSilva, RN-FNP/HNP, Ph.D. Candidate
Born in Guyana, South America, my journey in pursuit of education and healthcare excellence began when my parents migrated to the USA for better opportunities for their eight children. Education has always been central to my life, leading me to graduate from high school, college, and graduate school twice. I am currently a doctoral candidate.
With over thirty years of experience in healthcare, my career has been marked by dedication and progression. Starting as a home attendant, I advanced through the roles of nurse aide, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and Registered Nurse (RN) with an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). I furthered my education with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in two specialized tracks: Family Practice and Advanced Holistic Practice. I was honored to receive Vanderbilt's 2009 CREDO award for treating others as we wish to be treated. I also maintain all the American Heart Association (AHA) life-saving certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
My professional journey has included extensive experience in cardiac and respiratory critical care units. Transitioning from staff nursing to travel nursing provided me the opportunity to work with prestigious magnet hospitals such as Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center at the Texas Medical Center (TMC), MedStar Washington Hospital Center, and several other Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) facilities. These experiences have given me a broad perspective and deep understanding of various healthcare systems.
As a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), I co-founded and co-owned the Nurse Practitioner Associates (NPA) community health clinic, where I served as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). This role allowed me to observe, assess, and analyze healthcare from a unique perspective, emphasizing the importance of wellness care in addition to traditional healthcare.
This insight led to the creation of Be4MD, a venture aimed at transforming healthcare culture by promoting wellness and preventive care. I am passionate about making a difference in the healthcare industry and am committed to fostering a culture that prioritizes healthy living.
Married with five adult children and over half a dozen grandchildren, I value my family as one of my greatest blessings. An avid traveler, I have visited all the states in the USA except Alaska and Hawaii and have explored several countries in Europe and the Middle East. I love nature and outdoor activities, with "Yes!" being my favorite form of exercise.
My dedication to healthcare, education, and wellness is evident in my extensive experience, continuous learning, and commitment to improving healthcare systems and promoting healthy living.
